Work From Home

This blog is to provide feedback and information about the course I'm doing... The NZPCS Million Dollar Blueprint. I use this blog to write about all that I learn and create as part of the program. Feel free to ask questions or leave comments and I will get back to you. Get more information sent to you via the subscribe form in the sidebar.

Creating and Inserting Links

Links are a very important part of building a website. It is how people find your site, how you refer them to your products, and how you build page rank for the search engines. You will learn about search engines further into the Million Dollar Blueprint program but for now you need to learn how to create and insert links into your blog.

You do this by:

1. Anchor Text

Highlighting the word or phrase you want as a link - when linking to programs and products use keywords as your anchor text (the words high-lighted and linked)

Highlight text

then click on link button in blog composer…

Wordpress Link buttons

Paste the URL into box that opens up - If it is an affiliate link use a cloaked URL so your commissions are safe and if you have set it up, use a link tracker. That way when you make a sale you will know which site and link brought you the sale

Select open in new window - Do this when you don’t want your readers to navigate away for your site. This is particularly important when you want your visitor to stay and read the wonderful stuff on your site.

Enter a Title - This will give your link a hover-over description whenever someone moves a mouse cursor over the link.Inset/Edit link box

And there you have it: Work From Home Blog

Inserting Anchor Text links as code:

Sometimes you will be required to insert links as code into places like the sidebar of this blog for example. You can do this by using a webpage editor or even the wordpress post editor.

Create a link as described above in your composer then click on code tab. Find the link code and copy it. All you need to do now is paste it where you want it. You can add formating styles like bold and center by formatting the link in your composer before copying it.

One such link that you need to insert into the footer of all the websites you build in the Million Dollar Blueprint is this one:

Work From Home Blog

The code for this link looks like this:

<center><strong><a href=”http://www.nzpcs.co.nz/” target=”_blank”>Work From Home</a><a href=”http://work-from-home.nzpcs.co.nz/” target=”_blank”> Blog </a></strong></center>

I suggest you copy and paste it into a notepad document for future reference

2. Image links

Done in a similar way as text ink but you use the image button to insert the image first, then highlight the image before clicking insert/edit link button. The image you use needs to be uploaded to the web and have an address URL.

Again you can get the “code” to insert the image and link code elsewhere
